Creating space to engage in healing as a practice of freedom and rest as an act of resistance.
We are a extension of the Our Mothers Daughters Mobile Library with a specific focus on healing and wellness in BIPOC communities. In our work to decolonize bookshelves and learning spaces and ultimately minds, we found that rest and joy were essential to our survival and to any hope we might have of thriving.
The pursuit of equity, justice and liberation often carries us away from practices of joy, self compassion, healing and rest. Afua Wellness was birthed from this need to create a safe and inclusive space for all of us to come home, to reconnect mind and body, and to heal from trauma.
We offer services to individuals, groups, schools and other communities that promote balance, well-being and connectivity between mind and body. It is our belief that each of us has within us the power to transform our lives and the world around us.
We promote wellness by providing resources, training, support and education to those seeking to improve outcomes for themselves and their communities.

We support school staff and leaders in activating the power of their unique position to impact the lives of children every day, and to create safe, mindful and joyful learning experiences.
In order to help every child thrive, we must also thrive. By removing internal barriers, healing from trauma, and reducing stress, we boost our own capacity for gratitude and joy.
If the most important factor in the outcomes of students is the teacher before them, we want to help ensure every teacher can live and be well.

The choice is simple: we can live mindfully or mindlessly. We believe that mindfulness is more than self care or quiet time. Mindfulness is a powerful tool that when engaged fully, can strengthen our connection to the world around us and boost our ability and willingness to take compassionate action for ourselves, our families and communities.
Mindfulness is an evidence based practice used to improve overall physical, emotional, physiological and mental wellbeing.
Mindful living helps us recognize and address inequities, exercise self awareness and respond intentionally, compassionately
